Mario Gomez

Mexican explorer and naturalist. Founder and Director of Beta Diversidad, a Mexican NGO focused on the conservation of the seas. For more than three decades, he has dedicated his efforts to promote the designation of new Natural Protected Areas. The most recent being the Revillagigedo National Park, in 2017, the largest free fishing area in North America. In October 2022 Mission Blue named Mario Gómez as Champion of “Revilla”. In May 2022 he obtained the Ocean Award, in the Lifetime Achievement category, awarded by the Blue Marine Foundation and Boat International.
